Tournament of the GG 2: Battle of the Sets, 100% less suck than last time!

While I considered last tournament to be a relative success, here's a little memo for those of you who were involved last time, and might have gotten a bit frustrated:

[spoiler]Okay, for those of you who participated in the last GG tournament, you'll remember that there were a few stumbling blocks:

1. It took a long time for people to enter their decks, and bid on them. The planning phase also took way longer than it should have.
2. People hated some of the shitty decks that other people made for them, and they just quit.
3. People not getting together for matches, leading to a long, protracted tournament (I was guilty of this myself).
4. The bidding process itself sort of got cocked up.

Anyway, those 4 things are not going to be a factor for this next tournament. Because:

-We are not going to do any bidding. You're going to make your own decks.
-We will institute a "soft" deadline for matches. Soft meaning that if you have some sort of conflict or something, you can PM to get it pushed back.

Hopefully, these changes will result in a smoother running, and more fun tournament.[/spoiler]

Tournament of the GG 2: Battle of the Sets

So basically, the way that this tournament is going to work is that people who enter will be able to choose which single, black-bordered (non-ABU/Portal/Starter) set they want to use for the tournament. Players will be assigned a number at random, and will get to select the set they want in that order, which will then be taken off of the board.

While no single card in a set is banned, there will be a few sets that you cannot choose, as they would totally unbalance the format. They are:

-Antiquities
-Darksteel
-Urza's Saga

Once you have finished creating your deck, you will PM me the list that you have created (with a sideboard included), and once all the entries are gathered, I will post the lists in this thread. I will then pair for the opening round and the tournament will commence!

Because selecting and creating a deck for the tournament can be a daunting task, I'll give you a database of ideas that you can use for decks. Obviously, you don't need to copy them, but they are a good stepping-off point for creating your own winning list!
