Ridiculous Hat - April 16, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
this is the good gamery edition of random magical discussion, a time-honored institution that naturally has migrated to the most winningest of sites.
RawMeat - April 16, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
So like, Magic, what's up with that?
Ridiculous Hat - April 16, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)

I mean, several times in draft I took it like 13th and then when building I was like "hrm, you know, I bet my opponent will have an akroma on top when this hits, that will be so awesome" but then I realized that was retarded.
prolepsis9 - April 16, 2008 05:23 PM (GMT)
I think I played it a once when my opp had bombs that I could not deal with.
Dr. Magic Cards - April 16, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
It had a dragon in the art and only cost 2UU, so I figured it was safe to put in my deck without reading the rules text. Boy was I disappointed.

And suddenly everyone looked to see prolep dangling his weiner for all to see. We all knew what this meant: that it would be impossible to go back to the way things were, before we had all seen prolep's weiner.
Prolep stopped briefly to coyly ask "does this look infected" before continuing his dangling.

Thanks for that.

you never cook your meat? you must have an awfully nasty tapeworm infection.

sometimes he burns his weiner.

This thread has taken a turn towards the randomly magical.

I'm glad they've finally cleared up the protocol for cat person nipples. Only two nipples! If your cat person has ten nipples, you're doing it wrong.

Clearly you need to know this if you meet a cat chick in a bar, otherwise it would just be embarrassing

If i met a cat chick in a bar I'd hope she would look more like felicia from darkstalkers then ninja turtle reject
prolepsis9 - April 17, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
Does anyone have the chatlog where DMC says he's happy he doesn't play a game which involves cat-people?
Pterrus - April 17, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
Feh, Magic has had cat people since, what, Legends?

At least Wizards adheres to a strict two-nipple limit. The day they print Eight-and-a-Half-Tits is the day I quit Magic.

I played it in a Pre-release for a laugh, and it copied my opponent's Bogardan Hellkite.
I still lost that game.

So a friend of mine that I got into the game last year just did some sealed off at school and sent me his pool for critique, but as you know, I'm not really qualified for this. Could someone take a little time to look at this and say something I could pass on to a relatively new sealed player?

Nath's Elite
Woodland Changeling
Elvish Warrior
Game-Trail Changeling
Gilt-Leaf Ambush
Lignify
Kithkin Mourncaller

Sentinels of Glen Elendra
Latchkey Faerie
Merrow Reejeerey
Fencer Clique
Ponder
Weight of Conscience
Neck Snap
Nath of Gilt-Leaf
Obsidian Battle-Axe
9 Forest
6 Island
Secluded Glen
Vivid Marsh
Vivid Meadow[/DECK]
wcbarksdale - April 21, 2008 03:07 PM (GMT)
It looks like there are some simple card evaluation problems where he's not playing some of the better cards in the colors he's in. A probably bigger problem is the manabase; the two nonbasics help a bit but he's still playing two-drops in all three colors. It would help to explain that usually in sealed you want to run two main colors and a splash of like 0-3 cards, and your splash cards shouldn't be things you want to cast on-curve (unless they cost like 5).
I'm not totally sure but the best build looks like GU splashing for Nath and Footbottom Feast, probably something like:
Paperfin Rascal *
Fencer Clique *
Ponder *
Mulldrifter *
Stream of Unconsciousness *
Vendilion Clique*
Sentinels of Glen Elendra *
Ink Dissolver *
Latchkey Fairie *
Merrow Reejeerey
Bramblewood Paragon *
Chameleon Colossus *
Changeling Titan *
Nath's Elite *
Woodland Changeling *
Elvish Warrior
Everbark Shaman
Kithkin Mourncaller
Gilt-Leaf Ambush
Game-Trail Changeling
Lignify
Nath of Gilt-Leaf *
Footbottom Feast
Obsidian Battle-Axe *
samdsherman - April 21, 2008 09:37 PM (GMT)
that build sucks, he can't play any spells.
wcbarksdale - April 21, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Adding lands is more work than I am willing to do. Also that means that since I haven't looked at the curve at all the build probably changes.
llarack - April 22, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
Dragonegg5 - April 22, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
I think some things about that thing.

So are they just basically dusting off Arena leagues? Wow what a big announcement, whoever thought of this needs a payrise.
Kelvandil - April 22, 2008 10:07 AM (GMT)
I like how they always mention the Pro Tour together with FNM.
Uber_Mexico - April 22, 2008 12:23 PM (GMT)
More magic is never a bad thing, but stupid league play is fucking retarded.
For the overall health of the game, a greater range of tournaments requiring less skill to win is probably a really good thing. The differance between pro and casual can't be allowed to widen or you'll slowly lose your playerbase. Crappy league play is in the middle there.

Uber_Mexico - April 22, 2008 04:51 PM (GMT)
| QUOTE (STiL @ Apr 22 2008, 11:43 AM) |
There needs to be a distinction between pro and casual play, or else people wouldn't turn up for ptqs.
Play skill is the most important element of Magic, period. A greater range of tournaments isn't feasible, especially since there's already a shit ton that are sanctioned. |
Wait, what? Please explain this post. I don't see how those 2 statements are related, true or logical.
