Description: Gentlemen, start your Ugins

For those who need a separate thread for this and who don't go to MTGS or the mothership

From Tardvation:

QUOTE

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth {10}
Legendary Creature - Eldrazi (M)
When you cast Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, draw four cards.
Annilihator 4 (Whenever this creature attacks, defending player sacrifices four permanents.)
When Kozilek is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.

That is cool

GyantSpyder - March 1, 2010 09:10 PM (GMT)
So, you draw the cards even if you cast him for an alternate cost, and even if the spell is countered?

Him with [card]delay[/card] is hilarious.

I guess in standard you have, what, [card]Djinn of Wishes[/card]? [Card]Maelstrom Archangel[/card]?

In extended, there's hideaway lands, [card]fist of the suns[/card], [card]jhoira of the ghitu[/card].

Of course, there's also 8-post and tron in extended. Is he better than sundering titan in decks like that?

No, since he has to attack to do anything if you're cheating him out.

I still think he'll see play somewhere.

You can cheat on the mana cost as long as you're still casting him, and you'll draw the cards. All the methods GS posted will work. Sneak Attack and things that just drop him on the battlefield won't.

LOLAND - March 1, 2010 10:40 PM (GMT)
Well, Sneak Attacking him will still Annihilate 4 and do 12 damage. :pmoshrug:

ozymandias - March 1, 2010 10:41 PM (GMT)
It's also not infeasible to just ramp up to some of these things, especially with a little help from the Eye of Ugin. Elvish Archdruid shenanigans also seems like a decent bet, since your guys do stuff besides find lands.

GyantSpyder - March 1, 2010 11:10 PM (GMT)
He's also a pseudo-[card]Gaea's Blessing[/card], and you can pitch him EOT with 7+ cards in hand to feldon's cane yourself. Not an awful one-of out of the sideboard if mill decks are a problem.

Also, the permanents get sacrificed even if you fog him, so he's good against turbofog decks for a variety of reasons.

Basilisk - March 1, 2010 11:42 PM (GMT)
[card]Flash[/card] him into play whenever you want your opponent to sacrifice a bunch of stuff.

Seems like that would not work how you want it to.

I guess it could see some sideboard play as a one-of target for Stoneforge Mystic decks. Maybe. It kinda sucks if your opponent doesn't have any permanents.

edit: I thought it was 1 to equip, but I looked at the pixels and it's 3. Fuck. Seven mana before it does anything? What, I look like I'm made of mana?

PASS.

No, probably not

Flash him into play whenever you want to shuffle your graveyard into your library

FyrexianSurvivr - March 2, 2010 04:10 AM (GMT)
Flash him into play when you have ten mana and surprise block+opportunity!

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth {10}
Imaginary Creature - Eldrazi (M)
When you feel like it, draw four cards.
Annilihator 4 (At a time of your choosing destroy a number of permanents.)
I think it has a graveyard ability too. Don't forget that.
12/12
Wait, what does flash do again? And how do you spell "Annihilator" anyway?

Pyroclams - March 2, 2010 06:22 AM (GMT)
The graveyard ability is triggered, right?

If so, would something like [card]Entomb[/card] + [card]Shallow Grave[/card]/[card]Goryo's Vengeance[/card] work?

Clearing your opponent's board of permanents and dealing 12 isn't too shabby

I am aware it wouldn't fit into the controllish build that Müller used to win GP Madrid, but there might be a different, more agressive build that's worth testing.

kingcobweb - March 2, 2010 07:31 AM (GMT)
but if your opponent's deck is any good, they'll have upwards of six white instant-speed removal spells

blister - March 2, 2010 07:52 AM (GMT)
SEVEN. SEVEN IS THE CORRECT NUMBER BASED ON MY EXTENSIVE PLAYTESTING

I don't see how it would work. You'd emtomb it and then it's ability would trigger and then you'd shuffle it back into your library.

Or maybe you entomb it and its ability would trigger and then you attack for 12.
