Okay, so with the Starcraft Beta out, I thought that it would be neat to make a set of Magic cards based around the units and things in Starcraft 2.
http://www.starcraft-source.com/unitdatabase/Here's a pretty accurate list of what the units in Starcraft 2 are, and what they do. It's not perfect, and it doesn't have a lot of the new abilities, so if you know of a better site that summarizes things a bit better, please tell me.
Here's my interpretation of what each race's colors should be:
Protoss - UW
-Strong lategame
-Use magic, artifice, and have a strong "good guy" feel to them
-Damage prevention (shields)
-Big units throughout the game
-Dominant air units
-Tricky, skill-based units
Terran - RW
-Aggressive and warlike, yet structured
-Lots of small, relatively weak guys that pack a bigger punch than they can take (high power, low toughness)
-Lots of evasive creatures
-Extremely mobile and versatile
-Lots of range units (first strike)
-More powerful in larger groups (banding?)
Zerg - RGB
-Chaotic, biological, "evil"
-Makes a ton of units that are expendable
-Mixture of big and small guys
-Ground-based
-Resource hungry
Here are some units that I thought of:
Protoss:
Zealot - W
Creature - Protoss Warrior
Shields (This creature comes into play with 1 shield counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature does not have a shield counter on it, put a shield counter on it.)
Remove a shield counter from Zealot: Prevent 1 damage to Zealot.
2/1
Stalker - 2U
Creature - Protoss Walker
Shields (This creature comes into play with a shield counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature does not have a shield counter on it, put a shield counter on it.)
Remove a shield counter from Stalker: Prevent 1 damage to Stalker.
Reach
1W: Untap Stalker and remove it from combat.
3/1
Sentry - UW
Creature - Protoss Construct
Shields (This creature comes into play with a shield counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature does not have a shield counter on it, put a shield counter on it.)
Remove a shield Counter from Sentry: Prevent 1 damage to Sentry.
U/W, T: Tap target creature.
W, T: Prevent 1 damage to each creature you control.
5U, T: Put a copy of target creature into play. Exile that copy at the beginning of your next endstep.
1/1
Colossus - 3WW
Creature - Protoss Walker
Shields (This creature comes into play with a shield counter on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature does not have a shield counter on it, put a shield counter on it.)
Remove a shield counter from Colossus: Prevent 3 damage to Colosssus.
Colossus may block any number of creatures.
6/2
Mothership, of Aiur - 3UW
Planeswalker - Mothership
+1: Creatures you control are unblockable and gain Vigilance until the end of the turn.
-2: Tap all creatures target opponent controls, they do not untap during his or her next untap step.
-5: Search your library for 4 Protoss creature cards and put them into the battlefield.
//3
Terran:
Marines - 1W
Tribal Sorcery - Terran
Put two 1/1 Terran Soldier tokens with first strike into play.
Reaper - 2R
Creature - Terran Soldier
Haste, Mountainwalk
When Reaper deals damage to an opponent, tap a land that player controls. That land does not untap during that player's next untap step.
1/1
Seige Tank - 1RW
Creature - Terran Soldier
Morph RW (You may this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up at any time for it's morph cost)
Defender
T: Deal two damage to target attacking or blocking creature without flying.
RW: Turn Seige Tank face down.
3/1
Banshee - 2WR
Creature - Terran Thopter
Flying
Banshee cannot block flying creatures.
Whenever Banshee deals damage to an opponent, you may have it deal that much damage to target creature without flying that opponent controls.
3/1
Battlecruiser - 4WW
Creature - Terran Juggernaut
Flying
2R: Battlecruiser deals 3 damage to target creature.
6/6
